A weaving machine, also called a spinning machine, loom, or cotton spinning machine, was a traditional, human-powered loom. The term "textile machine" encompasses all tools used to process raw materials such as thread, silk, and hemp into fabric. Types include spinning wheels, spinning spools, treadle looms, as well as modern mechanical looms and modern CNC automatic looms.

The development of weaving machine processes and equipment, both ancient and modern, has been designed in response to the raw materials used in textiles. Therefore, raw materials hold a crucial position in textile technology. In ancient times, the fibers used for textiles in various countries were all natural fibers, generally consisting of three short fibers: wool, hemp, and cotton.
